Eleven Years in Newsprint

Today marks the first appearance of my daily comic in a major newspaper. On April 16, 2001, the Philadelphia Daily News began running Greystone Inn. My daily comic has run continuously in the paper (through the end of Greysyone Inn and the beginning of Evil Inc) since that day. Other newspapers have come and gone, but I'm proud to say that I have had at least one comic (and sometimes more than one) in the Daily News every day for over 11 years.

Brad, Wikipedia must be wrong. They say your birthday is in April, but that horoscope for Cancer is clearly yours.

Congratulations Brad! In the current climate of newspapers (as you know firsthand) that is quite the accomplishment! Is EVIL INC. in newsprint still a few years behind the current strips online? Do you get any feedback from print readers? Again, congrats!

Thanks, Rich! To answer your questions, the delay between Web and print has shrunk considerably since the early days of self-syndication. This is mostly because I've skipped certain weeks that I decided weren't necessarily a good fit for newspapers.

I usually do get feedback on the version of the strip that runs in newspapers -- particularly when I exhibit at Wizard World Philadelphia.
