Webcomics Gift-Giving Guide

'Tis the season to be jolly, right? But not if you've got that one person on your list who is impossible to buy for. Luckily, I know a few people who make the impossible possible on a regular basis. Do any of these gift ideas jingle a bell?

Danielle Corsetto's "Girls With Slingshots" collections are an awesome buy. Best buy? The GWS 6-book set. Looking for something extra-classy? Buy some original art at her Etsy Shop. Look around... you're bound to find one that fits your Special Someone perfectly.

If your list includes a computer programmer or a hard-core code monkey, look no further than the Not Invented Here book, "Runtime Error."

The Sam and Fuzzy store has a great selection -- from T-shirts to greeting cards -- but my personal favorite is the 8-bit Olympics T-shirt for the gamer on your list who gets misty when someone says "Atari 2600."

Howard Tayler's Schlock Mercenary is a perennial nominee for sci fi's prestigious Hugo Award, so for the sci fi affectionado on your list, check out his store for books and more. Best bet? The Schlock Mercenary 2012 Calendar

Shortpacked! has been a must-read comic for toy-collectors of all ages. This year, they're offering the biggest Shortpacked collection ever -- a 200-page book of collected strips, commentary and more.

SMBC started as a webcomic and has grown into an online entertainment empire with comics, videos and much more. This year's bet? The SMBC "Revenge" shirts which feature a dinossaur's revenge on asteroids.

Christopher Baldwin has earned readers far and wide with his comics Bruno, Little Dee and Spacetrawler. This unique cartoonist has a bevy of cool stuff available at his store. Best bet? The Spacetrawler coffee mug.

Eric Millikin has some striking greeting cards for Monkey Day.

Unshelved by Bill Barnes and Gene Ambaum has been a favorite of librarians (and other discerning readers) for years. Check their store for cool stuff. This year's hot-seller? The Intellectual Freedom Fighter messenger bags.

There are few humorists who can compare to David Malki. His Dispatches From Wondermark Manor is a Victorian adventure full of top-hatted intrigue, dirigibles galore, all-too-demure sensuality and completely unironic classism. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind book, this is it. Also, be sure to check out the Wondermark Greeting Cards.

And, of course, if you're at your wit's end. There's always the Evil Inc Christmas cards and the Evil Inc. Holiday Book Pack

Re--the recent virus problems from your site.

I had a chat with a comp sec tech recently. Problems like this are coming from e-shopping sites.

Your Store may be the source.

Hope this helps.

I still love Evil Inc.

BTW--your email is busted--no captcha. AAlso, I still can't start a new Thread in the Forum.

In Response to bosda (#60696):

Hi bosda,

My store is not the source.

Earlier this Fall, there were some viruses reported by Evil Inc readers. It was determined that the malicious content was being delivered by an advertiser that had infiltrated an otherwise trustworthy advertising service -- one of four that I use on the site.

Once the offending advertiser was identified, they were blocked from the system and the malicious content immediately halted.

It's not pleasant, but it's a side-effect of serving ads on any Web site. And it's important that readers understand that one of the best ways to nip the problem in the bud is to alert me immediately if anything suspicious happens while you're on one of my sites. And provide as much information as you can.

Which is why it's important for me to clear up any misinformation -- such as the possibility that my store is delivering malicious content. I have no evidence of this. And I have overwhelming evidence that the only malicious content has been served through one of the ad services I used -- and has been halted.

Regarding the captcha -- I'll pass that information along through the appropriate channels! Thanks for the heads-up!

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
