I'm extremely excited to be able to announce a project that Chris Giarrusso, Jim Demonakos and I have been brewing for the past several months.
Tales from the Con is a new comic that will appear every Thursday on the Emerald City Comic Con Web site.
It's going to themed off comic-convention culture, hitting everything from fanboys to cosplayers, security guards to exhibitors. We'll be on the con floor, in the hotel lobby and in the bars.
This is a new experience for me because it's the first time I've ever collaborated as a writer in a writer/artist pair. I'm writing the strips and the able Chris Giarrusso, who you know from Mini Marvels and G-Man, is handling the illustration duties.
This is also cool because the project itself comes very close to a concept that I was running my mouth on this summer in an interview with GammaSquad. My point was that Marvel and DC should use webcomics as a way to keep readers coming back to their respective Web sites. I don't think Emerald City's Jim Demonakos read that article, but great minds definitely do think alike, because it was exactly how he pitched it to me several months ago. This comic is going to give readers a reason to return to the ECCC site every week, where they will also find out about the amazing stuff that Jim and his crew have in store for the upcoming convention. (The next Emerald City Comic Con is March 30-April 1.)
I feel strongly that this is going to be an idea that you see copied widely in 2012.
Meanwhile, head over to the new site and look around. Get reading to make a new bookmark and/or subscribe to their RSS feed so you can be alerted to every new installment that Chris and I have planned.
And if you have any of your own Tales from the Con, please don't hesitate to drop me a line!
