If you're enjoying the graphics-designer series this week, be sure to check out the previous storylines, in which I touched on the subject. Click on each comic to be transported to the beginning of the storyline.

First. I am a graphic designer...and as such, I get tickled pink whenever I see the graphic designer threads because they are SO true. I'm also a web designer and developer...it happens there too. You know. "We want a website with a huge Flash entry and we want it with big image graphic buttons, but we want it to be SEO friendly. Don't forget to use and oh. We want you to set up a way that we can manage all the content ourselves, but we don't want to use Wordpress, we want you to hand-code it with PHP. And we need it in two weeks."

That said, I'd missed the "rubylith" strip...and I'm glad you reposted it here, because that's my favorite. I'd all but forgotten about rubylith...I mean...that went out shortly before we stopped laying out content on newspaper pages with the wax machines...but I saw that and my memory just bubbled back. Fantastic!

I enjoy your graphic designer series, and yes, I've delivered my share of stuff 'revised' by an editor.

I'd get "But why you didn't use Times Roman..."

There were times I wondered why we had other fonts.

I read a little further in that series on the PowerPoint business. Certainly choosy mother choose Jiff (GIF) and apparently this pronunciation is well documented. In this situation though, it seems equivalent to someone running in yelling, "The RAID array is on fire!" and me taking the time to say, "You know, array in this case is redundant."

Reminds me too of this little nugget: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halley's_Comet#Pronun ciation

Rubylith!!! Gawd, I haven't even heard of it since the 80's. Good riddance.

Thanks for the memories.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
