Villain Round-up: June 10,2008

Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - 12:01 AM

Rounding up the latest news from the "black capes"...

-- The butlers did it: Both of the major comic-book publishers seem to be positioning their parallel manservants to be A-list baddies.

In the Marvel Universe, it's faithful Avengers butler Jarvis, who has been revealed as one of the secretly invading Skrulls. He appears on the deck of the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier in the most recent issue of Secret Invasion, requesting complete and total surrender. Politely.

Over in the DCU, it's Batman loyalist and father-figure Alfred Pennyworth. In the opening stages of the Batman R.I.P. storyline, Alfred is implicated as a member of the villainous Black Glove organization -- from back in his days as a thespian.

Smart money has the top heroes from both universes getting their keisters handed to them this summer.

On a silver platter.

So when did Evil Inc start its Butler division? I think I missed that memo.

I just wonder if at the end of this whole Secret Invasion deal if Marvel is going to reveal how long each Skrull had been in place?

Man, I'd rather find out that Alfred was a Skrull than to have him betray Batman. That's right, I would rather have a DC-Marvel crossover where they explain that Alfred is a Skrull (thanks to the Beyonder or something) than have him become the next bat-baddie.

Heck, I'd even rather have Bat-mite be behind it than to see Alfred be used in such a way.

I'm just hoping that Alfred makes it out alive from BATMAN RIP. The last issue I read didn't look good for him.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
