Miami cartoonist update[NBC] The cartoonist who allegedly stormed the Miami Herald building downtown on Friday remains in custody.
A judge ordered Saturday that Jose Varela, 56, be held until experts can determine whether he is mentally stable.
Varela is accused of storming one of the nation's largest newspapers around 11:30 a.m. Friday dressed in police attire and holding a knife and fake machine gun.
According to the New York Times, he claimed to be upset about biased coverage of Cuban-Americans in both El Nuevo Herald and its sister paper, The Miami Herald.
