Courting Disaster: June 6, 2008

Monday, June 09, 2008 - 06:13 PM

Courting Disaster, my weekly comic about sex, love, and relationships updates every Friday. You'll laugh your pants off.

This week's question...

A reader writes... I've been in the military for seven years and just recently broke up with my girlfriend, whom I've been dating for three years. Recent stress on both sides caused us to argue and fight over the most minute situations. I never showed her my anger until now. She couldn't take it and left me. She would not answer my calls, texts, or e-mails. Finally, I agreed we could just be friends, but I am scared. If we are just friends she will continue on with her life. I don't think she will come back to me on her own. If I pressure her I may drive her even further away. All I know is I need and want her. I want to marry her and raise a family. The worst part is, even if we get back together, we will still be apart for the remaining three years I have left in the military. I am scared what may happen until then.

Go on over and offer some advice.

TWiV: Human Flame

Monday, June 09, 2008 - 08:43 AM

Taking stock of super-villains

Human Flame: The last time we checked in with Human Flame, we were hearing reports about a Z-Lister who would kill JLA mainstay Martian Manhunter.

Turns out, in Final Crisis #1, the Human Flame watches while Libra does the deed -- to a MM doped out on "pyro-traquilizers." And records it on his cell phone.

What a load.

So, TWiV is adjusting Flame's VQ to 1.

For HF, this is actually a step up.

Phables: June 9, 2008

Monday, June 09, 2008 - 12:00 AM

It was the late 20s/early 30s. The Great Depression and Prohibition had America in a death grip. Families were struggling to survive. And to make it through, this Philly family relied on two beverages: milk and beer.

Also, a programming note: Phables is being placed on a summer schedule by the Philadelphia Daily News. Starting this week, it will appear every other Monday until further notice.
